Labour Leader Ed Milliband’s visit to Ipswich

Labour leader Ed Milliband visited Ipswich this week, part of his UK election campaign tour whilst also supporting his parties local candidate David Ellesmere. My wife Julie & I were invited to meet the Mr Milliband so I took the opportunity to take a selection images of his visit. I spent the best part of thirty years photographing politicians and election campaigns for various newspapers, so old habits die hard, I couldn’t resist the urge to get a few frames of the hullabaloo created by his visit to my local town. He’s definately a hit with certain selection of local ladies in Suffolk.

  • On a bitterly cold morning in February I joined a happy bunch of people who together all belong to the Felixstowe Swimscapes. A hardy bunch of individuals who come together every Saturday morning, come rain, come shine or snow, or even worse, to swim across a part of the Felixstowe shoreline. I was wearing my thermals trying to keep out the bracing cold wind, which felt more like minus 5 rather just over 5 degrees. What would make seemingly shane intelligent people venture out in the middle of winter into the bitterly cold seawater? Well the answer to that question is just pure and simple, a love for swimming, and it doesn’t matter where they swim, just as long as they can test themselves in all conditions. These hardly souls who numbered up to twenty and are still actively looking for new members. Check out their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/FelixstoweSwimscapes

Lazuli Boutique Prom shoot

I’ve just finished a lovely shoot with the Laura Manning from Lazuli Boutique up here in Suffolk. Laura runs a successful bridal and Prom dress business in Kesgrave, near Ipswich. She asked if I could produce a new set of images for the up-coming Prom Season. Laura’s boutique sells to seniors at the local girl schools in the area and wanted to reach out to these girls with a new selected of dresses for this years prom season.

The shoot was arranged pretty quickly, our make-up artist Cheri found a great location not far from Kesgrave which worked well for the shoot. Laura had two girls in mind for the shoot, girls that she thought would model her dresses perfectly, and they did, I’ll be using Ashia and Georgia again on a couple more photo shoots I have coming up later this year.

We’re hoping to put together another Bridal shoot later this year, but I looking for a slightly different location, a location that one wouldn’t normally associate with Bridal photography…something a little different!

Smartphone Project coming!

I’ve been meaning to post a few items here on my blog for sometime now, but work, business and family seemed to have taken up the majority of my time. Well I’m happy to say that I’ve been fairly productive and busy with a combination of personal photo shoots, commissions plus some exciting up coming new photo concepts and ideas. The variety of recent photo commissions have ranged from working with a local fashion boutique, a wildlife charity, working with Sea swimmers, shadowing Paramedic’s around London and putting the finishing touches on a new personal project with the giant Felixstowe Port here in Suffolk.

I’ve been  looking into a new smartphone project entitled ‘Every one has a Secret’. I’m trying to find the right photo filter for the project which is proving difficult as there are so many on the market. But I’ve narrowed it down now to a few great looking filters so I’ll soon being shooting my project and hope it will prove enlightening and interesting to you guys.
